ok I am tripping on this whole casino online gambling thing first Im a little confused as to how these boards work I know there are a lot of forums out there promoting online casinos im a bit confused as too why the board owners enter other board owners contests and so forth are they gamblers also? And am I the only one who has not even broke even or won a decent amount ? I am starting to think the casinos ,the boards ,and the people are all one big online scam I hope Im wrong because I have put a lot of money into these casinos thinking I have at least a little chance of winning but I hope I am not a sucker!!!!!so could someone who doesnt own or moderate a board give me some kind of insight?

Hi Joann ;o)
Lets see how can say this ah, ok lets start here if your under the impression that most of the people who gamble on the net are winners, FORGET ABOUT IT LMAO!

And if most of the people you know say they are winners they are full of $#!^ LMAO!

As far as the people who work and run the boards, they are all gamblers. They are not allowed to (or not supposed to) participate in there own boards contests, but there is nothing stopping them from participating on other boards contests.
And yes most of them do know each other. But i like to think they are mostly on the up and up when it comes to giving out the prizes for there contests.

Try to remember one thing about gambling its not a money making business for the gambler, its a leisurely recreational pastime. The only real winners are the casino owners. Don't get me wrong now there are a chosen few who have won a considerable amount in the casinos, but they are few and far in-between.

If you’re gambling to make money, you need to go to Vegas and hook up with a real live Professional Gambler. These types are also getting scarce.
We had a salesman for the last company I worked for who's brother was a professional gambler, he would lend us his suite at the Stardust, Hot Tub and all lol, (which has been comped to him free for over 5 years) when we did photo shows in Vegas. This guy has been making a living for over 20 years by just gambling. He told us he averages between $120K, to $200K a year, over and above all his yearly costs to go to work, meaning gambling. To him it was work.

Not sure what else I can tell you. Just try to enjoy the gambling ;o)

joann23, being a moderator at two different forums, I am allowed to enter the contests at one of the boards but not the other and the one that I can enter, I assure you that the contests are on the up and up (even though I think I should be given a slight edge heehee j/j). All moderators and administration that I have met I are all gamblers, just like yourself.

Apparently you and I are in about the same boat. No real big cash outs for me either. Actually I have only cashed out once for over $1,000.00.

Just recently I was talking with a fellow gambler and I was commenting on how long it has been since I had a cash out. They reminded me of something apparently I had forgot about online gambling casinos.....each casino, as unique or similar as they are, all have one thing in common, they all have a cash-out button. Now I just have to remember how to use it. lol

Good Luck Jojo! I hope this helps. Rita icon_wink.gif

Hi Joann23. Well I know a few people who don't seem to want to cash out which is probably the most common problem. The more you aim to win the more unlikely it is to happen so if you set yourself a realistic goal of doubling your deposit, you should achieve it almost half the time.

The games obviously have a built in edge for the casino that can't be overcome after thousands of games but your chances of winning are usually very good in the short term. Due to the volume of play from all the gamblers, the casinos can ensure that they win overall.

For example, if you play roulette, you should know that after a few thousand spins, there is no realistic way you can be ahead overall. With blackjack, you can still be up after 100,000 hands which is probably more than most players will ever play. If you play blackjack properly, you will know you have a good chance of winning overall.

Blackjack commonly pays out a theoretical 99.5% of all bets if played using basic strategy. So, as an example, if you play $1 each hand for 2500 hands, the average loss is half of one percent of the amount bet, which is $12.50. Your final result will vary wildly obviously, and if you understand the statistics and do a quick calculation you will realise you could actually realistically be over $160 above or below this average -$12.50 result. So your final result could be anywhere between -$172.50 to +$147.50 to a certainty of well over 99% and this probability scale is equal either side of the average so you are almost as likley to win or to lose the same amount.

With Slots, the volatility is the largest of all the games if it has a big jackpot so you might want to play even though most of the time you will lose. Most slots online (Microgaming ones at least) pay over 90% but this isn't very high considering that you will play through your deposit a lot of times usually (losing 10% of your deposit on average each time). With slots, this average loss isn't much of a guide though because the volatility is so high.

Bonuses usually give you an extra advantage but this depends on the playthrough requirement. For example, with blackjack, you can usually gain an advantage even if you have to play through the bonus 200 times!! To calculate this just divide 100 by the house edge (100/0.5 = 200). Assuming the house edge (0.5%) is lost each time the bonus is played, when it's played 200 times the bonus will be gone on average.

This isn't much of a real advantage though because you can't be sure of being ahead even if theoretically you will win on average. You'd have to play hundreds of thousands of hands with these bonuses to be sure of being ahead (works similarly to the casino edge but the opposite way round). It is still better than nothing though if you don't mind the restrictions placed on them. You have to remember though that it requires a bigger starting bankroll on average because the chance of busting out is higher the more hands you play.

In the past though (about 5 years ago) the bonuses were much easier to cash out and you only had to play the bonus through 10 times at most (depending on the bonus percentage but usually lower than 10 times)! This was like a 10% advantage at worst on each bet if you played the minimum amount needed to play through and you couldn't really lose even in the short term. My first casino in 1999 had a $100 bonus on a $50 deposit (200%) and they only required you to wager the bonus one time so of course I took them up on this offer! I played a bit more than this minimum and cashed out over $200.

Hi Joanne..I mod a site also..but i as a rule don't really bother to enter contests as i never really win..unless there is a somewhat good promo included in the contest.

As for winning online i have cashed out about $14,000 since december, almost all of it at Playtech sites. Now I have gotten lucky big time and i also drop about $1000++ a month so i play alot.

I find it's always best to play with small amounts..spread it around, then play with your winnings but Joanne..The casinos so pay and I also went almost two yrs without much of a win.

Hope that helps

hi joanne23,

i am somewhat new to online casinos also, and at some point, i wondered whether or not i would ever do the WIN thing, just like you. I figure that if i keep playing and pay attention to some of the advice that's offered from the more seasoned players, MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, It'll eventually pay off.
Though, i don't do too many board contests. Seems my timing is always off. Anyway, it feeds my addiction until i can get to the nearest land casino. icon_lol.gif But good luck and KEEP PLAYING.!

I have also known a few people who have won really nice JP's, but I haven't been one of the lucky ones so far. LOL It doesn't stop me from trying! Online gaming is a lot of fun and as long as you gamble only what you can afford to lose, where's the harm in it. icon_lol.gif
