I'm starting a new version of the 'How long have you been gambling online?' poll. You now get 500 Credits for each poll you answer!
I started with Golden Palace in June 1999 (this casino is dumped but you have to start somewhere). |

I first gambled on line in 97, and it seems like yesterday that I started being a bonus abuser!
LMAO!

The first casino I gambled online in was The Sands of the Caribbean.
And its funny you should say Golden Palace. I hit a Royal Flush for 2K and they did pay quickly back then. But I am sure it was different software also.

The Golden Palace website was really amateurish back then. They used Microgaming software. They later moved to Aqua/Cytech software and now use Playtech!
I took them up on an offer of buy $50, get an extra $100 free and I only needed to wager the bonus once to cash out! I wagered quite a bit and cashed out over $200 which was wired.
They later went a bit crazy with very regular 20% bonuses with deposit limits of $10k! They had the same promotions across some sister sites too at slightly different times. The wagering requirements were just 1x the deposit and bonus! After a few months they suddenly cancelled many wires to players expecting their winnings. I luckily did get my final wire transfers of my winnings from their last big promo but many players weren't paid. Later they gave me a $30 bonus which I made into over $200 but they never sent my winnings despite promises to. They also gave excuses about upgrades in their accounting/cashier causing the delay but the money never arrived.
The OPA (Online Players Association) were meant to have been sorting out all the complaints but the guy behind the OPA, known as Steve Atkins (who was actually a criminal on the run), seemed to accept some hush money from them and nothing more was heard about the complaints.
The irony about it all was that the OPA actually started mainly due to the Golden Palace fiasco and before something was done to keep him quiet, Steve Atkins was constantly raging about them on his online radio show and making the casino the butt of his jokes. There were rumours about him accepting $50k to keep quiet but nobody believed it at the time but it was later discovered that he was a criminal on the run using an assumed name. |

The first casino I played online was 7 Sultans and then the rest of Fortune Lounge. This was back in 2000. It didn't take me long to find several popular gambling forums/portals and before you knew it, I was checking them all out.
In my first 6 months of gambling online, I won 2 progressives at MGS, 3 months apart. Boy is that a dangerous thing. Seemed so easy, too easy. Hahaha! Never happened again though. |

Cashsplash and Lotsaloot
Royal Vegas and Caribbean Gold (when they were MGS)
I cashed out $37k total, but I actually had quite a bit more in one of them..but being new to gambling and not knowing the options, and feeling a bit like it was play money while it sat in my account as reversible for 3 days.. I reversed quite a bit.. stupid stupid. <g>
But I was happy... I still don't understand how that happened. Two times and since then, well, it will probably never happen again actually. |

I started in 2000 when I finally succumbed to going online mainly for the purpose of betting on horse racing without the aggro of going down the betting shop, or picking up the phone!
Therefore, no surprize that the first online casino I tried was William Hills!
I don't remember much about it - except getting 4 of a kind 3 times in 6 months playing Let 'em Ride poker! Amazing really, as this is now my most detested card game because every time I play I get dealt TOTAL CRAP!
Other early sites were Alps Casino & Roman Casino. I was very stupid in those days, and lost $100's without really knowing what I was doing, or if the software was fair. I was very fourtunate though to discover the BEST casino on the net in 2001 - Intercasino, of course. The monthly bonus they offered (and still do now) was a revalation and led to me seeking out & finding other sites with similar great offers. At the same time I taught myself how to play to best strategy, and be more controlled.
Since then I have won $1,000's - much better than losing! |

| Hard to remember when the first time was. At least as far back as '99! I can remember my first deposit, which was long after that though! So do the ones before that count?? I was playing with free bonus money before I deposited though - not playing in "free mode". And since back then, I think there was a better chance of cashing out and actually seeing the money you'd made (if any) on free bonus money, then I'd say it does count. |

I started gambling online in '96. There weren't may sites then, and the winning seemed much easier! LOL _________________ VegasBaby58 |

hmmm................
let me think, I remember how much caution & how cautiosly I approached my mate about the notion of my maybe playing bingo for real money!
He came around to that idea, up to then I'd been playing all the freebie bingos, you know what I mean, but the idea of playing for real $$.
THEN! There were casinos that would give you money to play with! !!! OMG!!!
I don't remember what the first casinos were, I really played stupid with that free bonus $$, I didn't know anything, about the bonuses, or the boards.
Live & learn, that's for sure. I've learned A LOT!
now I gamble conservatively, and only with a few casinos, and hardly play with bonus money now

I guess I can be considered "old school" I started around 1998 or 1999. I played at this now defunct casino, Casinos of the World, that I truely loved, VERY loose, and won $2000 on some rocket ship slot, and was HOOKED. Got paid by check in about 2 weeks. I think that's why I have a hard time cashing out small amounts, my first win so quickly into playing, and I was spoiled! |

i actually started poker online in 1999 absolute poker when it was tiny...lol
but casino's online 2002 and first place Porto-fino casino... lmao sad huh had a lame list to choose from and didnt do much poking around before i dumped money into that scam invested site..... but finding these great forum's at least gave me new light that there are honest site out there. But now its all coming to an end for me since i live in the Liberal State of Washington, where appearently they care more about online gambling and money in there pockets (from the tribal casino's) then they care about online child pornography or sex offenders and the list could go on and on before id finally get to the "problem" of online gambling....lol goverment trying to control our freedom and rights its BS! |
