Harrods Casino launches in December 2000. It is operated as a 50/50 joint venture between Gaming Internet (the operator of Zap Casino) and Harrods Online Limited. The joint venture is on a three year fixed term with a rolling twelve month contract thereafter. Harrods claims to be the first global brand to launch an online casino.

After some months of closure since the end of 2002, Harrods Casino is back online using software from Kismet Studios. The software only features 21 games and excludes a classic, Craps, but at least the Blackjack plays very well.

Harrods still has a revenue share agreement with Gaming Insight until the end of the year. Gaming Insight had previously been reported to be providing the new software but failed to deliver a decent enough product (believe me, I've tried it) and Kismet was announced as the new software provider in December 2002.

The Kismet-powered Harrods was initially scheduled to have reopened in January this year but there has been a bit of a delay.

Harrods Casino, operated by a subsidiary of the Kismet Group, closes on 1st March 2007. Kismet CEO, Manu Gambhir, cites 'regulatory uncertainties' as a reason for its closure but still keeps their other casinos operational. These include Red Lounge and Private Casino.
