At blackjack.how2gamble.com..., When you have 17 and the dealer has a 5 up:
do you know the answer?
you're a big favorite to win
you're a small favorite to win
you're a dead 50-50 shot
you're a small underdog in the hand |

| Assuming the dealer stands on soft 17 and you have hard 17, the dealer is still slight favourite but it is very even. The small dealer edge with this hand is not more than 4 or 5 percent. Basically it's a very even hand and almost 50-50 but the dealer is slight favourite. |

It would depend first on what you do!
If you so something foolish like hitting that 17 against the dealer's 5, then you'd have to add another possible answer to the ones you gave to answer from. Something like "you're playing the wrong game".
Unless, of course, your 17 was a soft 17, instead of a hard 17. Then hitting might move you up to "you're a small favorite", although I think doubling it would probably surpass that to something like "you're a middling favorite".
Have fun and good luck!
