BelgianĀ’s national Gaming Commission has filed a complaint against gambling giant Unibet for the siteĀ’s bet on which date a new government will be formed.

Unibet risks a fine of 100,000 EUR as well as a suspension ranging from 6 months to 5 years. Its lawyers however point out that their action was legal in every other European nation and EU treaties mean Belgium must go along as well, and has no plans to stop the bet.

The Gaming Commission contends that betting on events is illegal, with only sporting events and horse racing as exceptions.
