The site, casinointegritycommission.org (CIC) only opened up on March 5, 2004 (although established 10/2002). They are a non profit online player advocate organization. Casinos that meet their criteria wil be accepted. The Trident Group and Gambling Online magazine were just given awards.

I am not sure, however, how many casinos other than the three Trident casinos are members. The forum also had no posts, so it's a little hard to get much more information about them besides their awards given out and their mission.

I don't know about it opening this month. Last time I looked at it (a couple of months ago) there were ads for Phoenician casino which is a bit strange- there are no ads at all now.

Below is the press release on their site:

-----------------------------
PRESS RELEASE

For immediate release 2004/03/16

FIRST SEALS & INDUSTRY ACKNOWLEDGEMENT AWARD FROM CASINO
INTEGRITY COMMISSION

Player protection the goal The Casino Integrity Commission
(CIC) [ http://www.casinointegritycommission.org ] who offically opened on the 5'th of March 2004, has awarded its first quality seals to the Trident casino group and its industry acknowledgement award to Gambling Online Magazine.

CIC is a non profit organization founded in October, 2002. Operational costs are derived from yearly casino membership subscription, which includes the salary of its director. Excess funds at the end of each financial year are distributed to two nominated charities, yet to be announced.

Its core belief is that all players have the right to receive fair and honest dealings from online casinos of integrity and efficiency. The criteria applied are the same levels of fairness expected from any international land based casino.

This philosophy is the foundation of the following casino guidelines, which members just meet before qualifying for the CIC seal of approval.

* Government gaming license or highly regarded in the online gaming industry for player integrity.

* 24/7 player Support via email, live chat & or phone service.

* Logs available to players on request and audited percentage pay out reviews.

* Pay out winnings within 8 days for electronic pay outs and 10 days for bank wires and checks.

* Subscribe to truth in advertising, promotions and bonuses.

* Have adequate deposits in escrow or bonded accounts to safeguard player interests.

* Offer multiple pay out options.

* Demand player ID before pay outs.

* Have a proactive and compassionate commitment towards problem gambling.

Director of the CIC Joel Mikkelsen says, "There still is a void of trust for this industry. Casinos often have to contend with players who have less than honourable intentions. On the other hand, honest players in some instances are forced to jump through hoops to obtain their rightful winnings or bonuses."

There is no quick fix solution, however the organization aims to draw on the knowledge and industry experience of its founder & director of the CIC who has had player experience since 1997, including portals and casino ownership over the past four years. To bridge the divide between reputable online casinos & legitimate players.

I don't think I had checked the site before, just saw where they officially opened the site on 3/5/04. It is a little odd though to start giving awards to casinos when it seems they are the only members.

Guess this will be one of wait and see places. Hadn't realized the connection with Phoenician though.

Hi,

My name is Joel Mikkelsen & I'm the Director of the Casino Integrity Commission. After going through the site's stats today, your site was listed in our referring site links, hence the visit.

I'd like to take the liberty of explaining a couple of key questions or doubt that have been posted in this thread, I hope this is ok.

Firstly the Casino Integrity Commission (CIC) & its domain name was first registered by myself back in October of 2002. By using the archive of the Way Back Machine, this may provide a clearer visual understanding:
web.archive.org/web/20021204192237/........
You can also access http://www.waybackmachine.org which you can gain knowledge of what sites used to look like.

Initially I intended to open the CIC on the 21'st of November 2002. However, as I also owned a number of white label casino's & also having a number of casino portals, this date kept getting pushed forward. Even though I've always maintained integrity & keep honour for the best interests of my site guests & members, it started to dawn on me that having the best interests of gamblers at heart & operating the CIC while still owning casino's & portals was a conflict of interest on my part.

Hence I placed the CIC on the back burner, until such time as I no longer operated any portals or casinos.

For those of you who have been around for a while, you may recognize who I am when I say I owned Gamblers Lodge ( http://www.gamblerslodge.com - sold in April 2003 ).

Also ran for a short period of time Vegas Heat Casino ( http://www.vegasheatcasino.com ). this was using i-Vegas software as a white label casino. I chose to terminate this agreement after 3 months.

Although players were being paid quickly & the software was more than fair, I was promised detailed back end stats which never became available. It was IMHO that shill players were being added, going on the 2'nd months turnover of $150,000US my commission was only $200 the following month was similar. Adding that I made a public announcement on CasinoMeister's Forum that I was closing. To this day I have never received any of the back end spreadsheets as promised.

Getting back to the CIC.

It has always been my view that all online casino's should conduct their operations with the same integrity, trustworthiness and moral community obligations, as one would expect from any International Land Based Casino.

I also strongly believe all online casino gamblers have the right to gamble at online establishments that demonstrate these admirable qualities.

In regards to Phoenician Casino.

My intentions for the CIC was to conduct a site that alerted gamblers to rogue casino venues, casino's that were possibly risky, promote trustworthy casino venues by way of media buys; no commission by way of affiliation, and also offer mediation service as well as a casino forum board community. Initially I open the CIC in this context in January 2004.

After a month, I realized that if I really wanted to make a difference, then this difference had to built into the foundations of the CIC. At this stage I contacted the casino's on site & expressed my views.

On the 5'th of March 2004 the CIC as you see it now, officially opened.

I can understand that people may hold reservations towards the Casino Integrity Commission, notably we have all seen a number of " Gambler Protection Commissions " open that are nothing more than elaborate shills for casino venues, or the gambling public have been used to the benifit of such sites.

Personally I don't expect people to trust the CIC right out of the gates, however, all I can ask is that you allow the CIC to prove by action that we intend to say what we mean & do as we say, standing firm in our beliefs & commitment to the betterment of the Online Casino Industry as a whole.

In closing, if you have any questions you would like to address to me personally please feel free to make contact via http://www.casinointegritycommission.org/contactus.html
and I will be only to happy to address your queries.

Best Regards

Joel Mikkelsen

I'd also like to add, that it gives me great pleasure to announce that yesterday the 29/03/2004 that I signed an ongoing endorsement agreement ( this did not involve any cash exchange ) with Terrapinn.com, who are the official managers & promoters of the Gaming & Casino World Australasia Conferences. This prestigious event now in its 12th year is being held in Melbourne Australia on the 3rd - 6th of May 2004. I've also been invited to give a presentation address to the delegates.

Hello again Joel! I do remember you and would visit your site often. Nice to see you back at the boards.

I think with CIC being a fairly new site and little information known, it just had people asking if others had been to your site or knew much about it. I did spend some time there over the weekend, and could really only post on what was there.

Any site that advocates for players - and really for the players is great!

Good luck and keep us updated on more news there.

Thank you pixie11,

The warm welcome was a nice touch too!

Yes your right, we are very new & at this stage we have not had the exposure, hence most respectable casino's are not aware of our presence.

Hopefully over the coming months this will change, in doing so we will be in the position to issue further CIC seals.

As I hold a long standing professional relationship with Micki from Trident Entertainment Group & also hold her casino group in high esteem, it was a natural instinct on my part to grant all these casino's the CIC seals.

In regards to advertising, we are not going down that path, instead have opted to use the model of which the IGC gains membership dues, of which goes towards our operational costs. Excess money at the end of the year will be donated to two charities. Most likely Kids Under Cover
http://www.kuc.org.au/ <--- not official as yet ---| and another worthy cause.

What you may find interesting is or bulletin board, each casino that is approved for the seal, also is given its own section on the forum.

This will allow player to converse directly with each casino; on suggestion each casino appoints one person to represent the casino. This way both players & casino can form a better understanding & hopefully both contribute to making the industry a better place for everyone.

Anyway I'll leave it there don't want to turn this into a plug icon_lol.gif

Best Regards

Joel Mikkelsen

PRESS RELEASE

For immediate release 2004/03/31

Casino Integrity Commission endorses prestigious world gaming conferences

Ongoing industry education & awareness

March 31, 2004 - Casino Integrity Commission ( CIC ) [ http://www.casinointegritycommission.org ] signed a non financial agreement with Terrapinn [ http://www.terrapinn.com ] on the Monday 29/03/2004 for the ongoing endorsement of its Gaming & Casinos World Australasia Conferences [ http://www.terrapinn.com/2004/casino_au/ ]. The 12'th annual event being held at the Grand Hyatt 3-6'th of May 2004, in Melbourne Australia.

The conference which ranks highly on calendars of the who's who in the conventional casino & gaming world, this year is also presenting a number of speakers from the i-gaming sector.

Casino Integrity Commission spokesperson Joel Mikkelsen, when asked of the benefits of such an endorsement said, “ We are extremely happy to align our organization with the Gaming & Casinos World Australasia Conferences. These highly regarded industry events attract respected global delegates, government officials and key industry speakers. Combine this with the obvious industry support & ongoing commitment, and your presented with a sartorial event that has the mechanics to move mountains.”

Since the electronic age met traditional bricks & mortar casinos and gaming establishments, their technology has evolved dramatically. Introducing the Internet; although still in its infancy, the possibilities for land based casinos to enter the i-gaming market is a development that Casino Integrity Commission strongly supports.

Education, knowledge & awareness are factors that provide and contribute to potential growth. As such, the ongoing endorsement of the Gaming & Casinos World Australasia Conferences is viewed as a positive contribution to the industry by the Casino Integrity Commission.
